About

“It’s never too late to be what you might have been” – George Eliot
“The dictionary is the only place success comes before work.”
– Vincent Lombardi

I have worked in several different industries and started managing at a very young age, I was a shift leader/key carrier in a restaurant chain at the age of 20. I faced many dynamics over the years as I have often been promoted over others and even over people who were in their positions longer than I have been.

The common denominator in my life has been the impact of leadership and management in the workplace and the impact of people’s quality of life who work in those environments. I do not advise or write any of my material from the angle that I was a perfect manager and so I am “passing on” my knowledge. Far from that. I have had many more years to screw things up and sometimes do things correctly than most people get the opportunity to do in a lifetime.

Because I am a driven, analytical type I have often kept journals of my management struggles and my endless pursuit to improve has led me to read and study and great many books, managers, etc. I did very little for 20 years other than read books to try to improve my skills and help others.

I am happy to say that my 20 plus year infatuation with improving as a manager did pay off and still does. I love helping people be successful and care about little else, that is why I have so much in my free community and it is growing.

I have been working on a book for a very long time to be a really an effective, practical handbook that managers can use for themselves and also give classes to the managers under them to help them move forward in their career. All the material in the community is written with the intent of going into my book.

If you join and contribute even a little feedback to the free community you will get a free autographed copy of my book when it is finished and maybe quoted or an acknowledgment!! Thank you to all those who are already a part of the community giving feedback and asking questions!!

You can join the community knowing I am not trying to sell you anything, just use the information and give me suggestions or feedback. I have clients and I am really busy so I am happy to help with as much free information as I have time to put together. My lifelong dream is to……..

Rid the World of All Bad Managers!

I think bad managers and bad management causes a tremendous amount of lost productivity every year, it also causes the quality of life to deteriorate for those subjected to bad management. People who feel powerless against bad management usually call in sick a lot, are not as energetic and have a poorer quality of life in general when compared to those people who are managed well.

Here are what a few people have said:

My names Jeff Berleue and I turned to Jodi at careerchoicecoach.com for help when I became suddenly unemployed due to this economic recession. I have over 20 years in retail and almost 10 in management and really hadn’t had a career I jumped around and made stupid decisions when it came to changing jobs.

Jodi took my information that I had from my prior jobs, not just who or where they are located but what I did, what awards I received and tasks that I would’ve thought were minor and formatted this into a powerful introduction to me. Jodi also took me out of the Lee Iaccoca way of resume thinking, which I had been doing since the 80’s and into the new millennium. Jodi assembled an extremely professional resume for me in several different formats for different types of job choices.

Jodi also took the the time to coach me in changing my way of thinking on how to approach change in a career with negotiation. Now I have the tools I need to get me back on track and some excellent prospects on the near horizon. Thanks Jodi you have helped me out of a dark time and I’ll let everyone know how things turn out.  –  Jeffery Berleue, Mt Vernon, WA

Thanks Jodi! I went from losing my cool all the time and really being crabby to everyone I ran into, to being more relaxed and guess what? My employees love it and they are working harder for me now than they did before. My fiance also thanks you! She says I’m much better at home too! — Robert Sinclair, Los Angeles, CA
